I have realized this week that it has been far too long since I last wrote a blog post. It has been a very busy summer. Spent my time getting my etsy shop blooming and working on tons new animals. Not to mention enjoying the beautiful summer weather!
The last two weeks or so, I've had this crazy obsession with shrinking down all my animal patterns. Why you ask? Because the smaller the animal, the cuter the animal!!

I start off with shrinking down the patterns. I shrink them down to 68% percent on the copier. Which is a huge size difference as you can see in the pictures above. Mini animals are much much smaller in comparison. Mini does mean cuter, but mini also means the sewing difficultly goes up.
It was much harder sewing the mini animals verses the normal sized. The extra large animals are the easiest to sew. The smaller heads I have difficulty sewing them on straight. The mini giraffe was by far the most worst pattern to shrink down. The tiny ears and antennas, I had to modify because with my sewing machine (which is not the greatest) would eat up the tiny material. After getting so flustered with the sewing the head onto the neck correctly, I didn't double check his hooves to make sure they were sewn on the right feet. So, my first mini giraffe ended up with a side-ways head, and backwards hooves. Which I came to realize was due to not sewing his under belly in the correct order.

All of the other patterns did not give me nearly as much trouble. The elephant and shark are the easiest so far mini. The flamingo took some tampering with to get it to work nicely. I had to enlarge the wings a little bit to make it easier on my sewing machine. The T-rex was not too difficult either.
Most of the difficulties came from my sewing machine eating the smaller fabric pieces. I hope that when I get a better machine this winter, that problem will go away. I am not experienced at all with other machines, so that will be something to look into.
I plan on at least attempting to make minis out of all my animal patterns that I have so far. I love seeing them so tiny. And I won't know I can do it, until I try!

Creating such cute things is pretty awesome. Getting to have mini photo shoots also is pretty amusing too.
:) It's always fun taking adorable pictures of super cute animals. I wish I could do it full time!
