First off, once I got everything cut properly and mapped everything out how it was all going to piece together...I ended up getting a little too sew happy and messed the head/trunk of right away.
The head was the hardest part to sew together, because there were the ears, back, belly, tusks, and front legs all connecting in that area. Once I got past that everything went smoothly and I was able to finish before 4am.
I am still going to give it to my baby cousin, Josie ( who absolutely loves elephants) for Christmas, and the grey color of the elephant matches the semi-quilted blanket I'm making her also. I do love how it turned out for my first try, (Way better than I was thinking when it got pretty rough and I had to start a over and recut some things...) I just don't think I'll be making another one for before Christmas at least. ^_^

Tonight I gave the elephant plushy another try. I got such great feed back on the first one, so I wanted to give it another try. This time I changed the needle to a heavier duty size and went out and bought a walking foot to help with the thickness of the Soft&Comfy fabric. It turned out so much better. It didn't take me nearly as long. Here's how it turned out! It's ears are the same size this time too! It was so much easier to make and I can't wait to make more!!
I also organized my sewing area better this time around too. It helped a lot that I knew what I was doing this time too and wasn't going in blind. After tracing the patterns, I pinned them up on the wall in the way the pieces go together. And the sewing intrustions I also pinned to the wall to keep everything organized! ^_^ Helped out so much. They both are so cute! I just love them! I want to make the monkey and lion pattern now too. ^_^
