It's time for my first pinterest post reviews! I was going through a crap ton of my craft photos trying to figure out what posts to give to you guys while I am searching for my own place. Until I get my own place, my crafts are put to a halt. So, I am going through some past ones that I've done and that I have pictures of.
This post will be about two pinterest pins that I am sure all you obsessive pinners have seen or at least came across. First is the DIY flag tank top and the other is the 4th Of July Trifle.
First I am going to start of with my failure. The tank top. Gosh... it was a disaster. Heres the original pin that I went off. It was very well done. I read it a couple times before I decided to try it out. In the end... my tank top did not turn out so well. There could be a number of reasons. Let me show you guys the pictures I took while I was making it. I didn't take as many as I would have hoped. I wasn't planning a blog when I had started these projects. :( Sadly, not many step by step pictures like I normally have.

I started off with a mens shirt, painters tape, and some spray paint. It was going well, until It was time to take the tape off. If I were to do this project again, or for those of you out there that want to try it. First, find the perfect shirt. The shirt I picked out just..wasn't right when I cut it to make it a tank top. It was awkward and didn't hang right. I think it's more of a trail and error trying to find which shirt works best cut into a tank top, and I have yet to find one that works just right for me.
For the spray painting, the painters tape I thought would work really well, well it didn't. In a lot of places it let the paint slip underneath and bled through in some places. Bad choice. The stars didn't turn out right either. Don't use plain printing paper!!! It's too thin, waay to thin. The spray paint totally bleed through and made the stars look misty instead of bold and clean like I wanted them. I would suggest using thicker paper. I might try it with resume paper this summer to attempt it again.
All in all, this pinterest project ended in a fail. At least later that day, I tried using a pinterest recipe that turned out amazing! I highly suggest this pin to others. Although with my little spin on it! ^_^

Mine turned out tasting soo good! Everyone loved it. The only thing that really was different with mine, is my cream filling ended up being a lot more liquid than the one in the picture. This is because I used a totally different recipe for my filling. I didn't just use whipped cream. I made my own that turned out tasting so much better.
I suggest using this recipe for the cream cheese filling when making a fruit trifle:
What you'll need:
Instructions:
1. Cream together cream cheese and powdered sugar
2. Add sour cream, vanilla, and almond flavoring, then set this mixture aside.
3. In a separate bowl whip the whipping cream until it is thick and fluffy
4. Add whipped whipping cream to the cream cheese mixture
5. Let sit in the fridge until ready to add to your trifle.
I used this recipe for the cream filling, which is amazing! But, I used the presentation from the pinterest pin. I cut out star shapes out of the Sarah Lee's pound cake, and arranged them inside the trifle. Then with the left overs I crumbled up and layered them with the cream cheese filling and the fruit. It turned out really good. I did nothing special to the blue berries. Washed them and layered them into the trifle. The strawberries I pre-cut and sprinkled sugar over them. I left them to sit in the fridge while I made the filling.
I had to go out and buy my trifle bowl though. I bought mine at Pier 1 for anyone who is interested, but a couple days later I did see one at both Target and Wal-mart. They are cute little dishes to have for holidays. I hope this helps all you pinners out there!
