This is one of my most successful pinterest projects. I loved this project and how well it turned out. For my first try making something like this, it was very satisfying. It was due to the Zaaberry blog and how well she put this tutorial together. It was pure genius. She made it really easy to understand and follow. All the step-by-steps pictures really helped out. When I made these I was still a beginner sewer, so all the little details she added into the tutorial were very helpful. If you click on their picture, it will take you to the tutorial!
That's how my soft blocks turned out! Soo cute right?! I ended up making them for a whole baby set I put together. I had four planned out, but the first one was... a mess. First one's are almost always a mess right? But, I learned from my mistakes and the other three came out perfect! In order to plan out the pattern for each block, I laid the design out and took a picture. that way when I went to sew each one, I knew what piece went where so the blocks all looked different.
Two sides of my blocks where the main pattern of the baby set I was making, and two were matching minky colors to add texture, and the last two sides were coordinating fabric designs I had picked out for the matching washcloths I made in a previous project for the baby set. Gotta love using scrap fabric ^_^ I added the ribbons in random sides that didn't really have any logic to it at all. But having the pictures I was able to determine before hand where I was going to place the ribbon tags.
Next Time I make these I might add a bell into one of the blocks and crinkle paper into another one so they are all different in their own way. And babies love it when their toys make noises. ^_^ This pin is one of the best finds, and I highly suggest people try this one out. It's well worth it.
The baby set below is something I put together for a friend's baby shower! It's three baby blocks, 6 washcloths, a super soft baby changing mat, and a hand-made chenille baby quilt. ^_^ Super cute collection and I just loved the fabric patterns.
