It's been a crazy couple weeks getting ready for this wedding. One of my aunt's best friends was planning a wedding and as her maid-of-honor, my aunt took on some projects. Also volunteering my sister and I to help out too. I browsed the internet and found some crafty ideas for center pieces. The bride was on a tight budget and we had less than three weeks to plan everything. After a couple hours of searching my aunt decided on the perfect idea for the center pieces. Later, I would wish I hadn't shown her the idea...
This is what we came up with...
A lot of you might recognize it from Pinterest it was a popular picture among the DIY wedding center piece search. Ours didn't look nearly as nice as the ones in the Pinterest pictures, but I think for what little time we had, we pulled it off nicely.
My aunt and I made all the center pieces (I did all the work, she glued the flowers on...), along with packaging up all the truffles. She also made all the labels for the tops. My sister made all the desserts except for the cupcakes. Jessie handmade all the truffles using the truffle recipe I posted earlier on my blog. I did not get pictures of all the desserts she made, but she made mini apple pies, mini cheese cakes, white chocolate peanut butter balls, an assortment of cookies, and chocolate strawberries.
When my aunt went to set up the hall, almost all the small purple yarn balls got damaged unfortunately. So the tables only had one white one with the candles. Which turned out to be cute in the end anyway. The two small purple yarn balls that didn't get too damaged, she put on the dessert table to dress it up. In the end, everything was beautiful.
On top of helping my aunt make all the center pieces, I was in charge of the photography at the wedding. Which terrified me a little bit. I have no previous training, photography is simply just a hobby. I happen to get some good shots everything once in awhile, and sometimes I think even then it's luck. Because of this, I did a lot of research online on how to take good shots at a wedding and such. They really helped out. Once I got started and over came the nervousness my photos started to come out the way I wanted them to. I was able to take charge, which is hard for me to do sometimes because I am never an assertive person when it comes to these types of things.
The research I did helped out considerably. I browsed through random wedding photos all over the place online and even saved a few poses I liked onto my iPad. When I got to the wedding, I would shift through the pictures to get some ideas on posing and how to position people. Once I started going, it just came smoothly to me. I had an amazing time. I loved it! If only I could do something like that all the time. It was more gratifying once I got home and dove into editing them all. Picking out the best shots. I still see tons of mistakes in each picture, but getting ahold of fixing them only takes practice and more learning. For which I plan on enrolling in some photography classes up in Chicago. I am so close, less than 45min away (depending on the crazy Chicago traffic) away from downtown. Why not take advantage of it right? A lot of the my photos I took at the wedding aren't brillent or amazing, but there are a few that I seriously look at and think to myself, "I seriously took that picture?!"

The picture at the very top, yes I stole the idea from a Pinterest picture I saw, but I love it! It is one of my most favorite pictures I took that day or ever taken. This one above is one of my top favorites too. So precious. There weren't a lot of reference photos online for pregnant wedding photos, so I had to wing it.
I am very thankful that I got a chance to experience this, and be apart of their special day. I had so much fun and learned so much from the experience. Looking at my own pictures makes me fall in love with photography more and more.

Ill be adding more of the pictures onto my photography page. I'm also putting together a tutorial on how I made the yarn balls for the center pieces. Keep a look out for it in a couple days!
