I just realized that it has been a whole month since my last post. I need to get on the board for March, so I went through a whole bunch of older pictures. I came across a couple more older projects that I did. I am running out of projects where I have at least two or three pictures though. So bare with me if the pictures aren't as pretty. I know I've said this before on other posts about my past projects. A lot of these older ones are just pictures I took for myself, never planning on actually showing them to people or using them for my blog. They aren't really pretty. But, I thought I would share them now anyway. :)
The little girl that I use to nanny for last year wanted me to make her a purse for her birthday. At first I wasn't confident enough to make one. These projects are large and include a lot of work. I went shopping for patterns and it took me foooorever to pick out the perfect one. I had seen this bow on a tote tutorial I found and ended up buying a template pattern from the local fabric store a woman runs out of her house downtown here. The fabric was easy to pick out. She is always a girly girl but wanted the pretty blue color in it. She is always so easy for me to pick out coordinating fabrics for.
This project was difficult. I had never worked with interfacing before. It ended up taking me two tries cutting the fabric and ironing on the interfacing to get the pieces just right. It took me a total of over 12 hours of cutting and preparing the fabric pieces before I could even start the sewing part of the project. Sewing the pieces together was challenging too, because the fabric with the fleece interfacing ironed on kept slipping and moving as I sewed. (At this point in time, I did not know about the walking foot. Which was a HUGE blessing when my aunt finally told me about it) In the end, the bag turned out so cute and perfect. She loved it! No one could believe that I had made something like this. Actually, I had people start to not believe me period that I was really making all of these things. Called me a liar and such. Which is whatever. I could honestly care less because I know the hard work I put into these projects. But, after that is when I started to take before and after pictures of almost everything I was making.

A couple years ago in 2010 I recently had to leave college because of family issues and I was sort of blue. I had this crazy idea to hand stitch my mom and siblings pillows. Each person had their own design concept. Jessie's pillow is by far my favorite. She is majoring in culinary so I made a cute little chef and cooking utensils for hers. My baby sister's was super cute also. I did a animal design. I based it off of Fruits Basket anime. ( I am a HUGE anime nerd) I had to cut out all of these pieces out of felt and hand stitched them on. It did take me forever to get them all made.
My little brother's pillow I couldn't decide on what theme to do. I always have a hard time with boy designs for some reason. They take me 3x longer to come up with than a girl theme. I chose space. It was fun making the planets and deciding which ones to do. Although, Jupiter ended up looking more like a pizza than a planet.

After I finished Jolynn's pillow, the cow was just too cute. Jessie has this obsession with cows. She has ever since she was very little. So, I was like why not take the cow from Jojo's pillow and blow it up into a key chain? It's designed after Fruits Basket Hatsuhara. He is the cow in the Chinese zodiac. I even added his cute little earrings and tuffle of hair. I also stitched on the back, his name in Japanese. はつはら. I stuffed him with left over fluff and added some yarn as a string. It's so cute! I had so much fun making all these presents. Even though after everything was done and my fingers were really bruised from working with the needle and ton's of finger pokes...it was worth it to see their reactions on their handmade pillows. :)
